I have finally seen the light , And I have finally realized what you mean He moved quietly onto the camp, a small duffel over his shoulder, knowing he wasn't going to stay too long. Off were his wizarding robes and back into the comfort of a nice flannel button up shirt and jeans. He wore a light jacket and a smile. The smile wasn't there, however, until he saw a familiar sighting of brown hair. "Mona." He called to the little girl, a grin on his lips. She ran over to him and he kneeled down to look at the twelve year old who was small for her age. He found her wandering around London, it was hard to convince her, at first, that he wasn't a snatcher, but she learned to trust him. Just in case, he brought her over here, where there was a gaggle of good people out of the ministry's eye. In fact, the only person that would contact them were him, Because of his position in the ministry. which was good for him and this rescuing he was trying to get down with all the hogwarts students that couldn't go home. He watched her grin and hugged her tightly. "Okay, here's the deal, Give me a few more weeks, and I should be able to nail down a good home for you. Someone who can teach you some really neat stuff." She nodded, mentioning that she liked it here and that it wasn't a rush. He laughed and stood up, asking where one of her caretakers was. She pointed behind her and ran off into another tent.
Adjusting his bag, Xander walked to where the little girl pointed, He stood outside of the office and knocked. "Hello?" He asked, waiting to be invited in, he wasn't one to barge into other people's spaces. "Anyone there?" He asked, shoving his hands in his pockets. It was a rough time to trust someone new on any reservation, but he knew scott and hayden, so he figured they'd recognize his voice.

` DOMINIQUE: Dominique's job was a nice escape from everything that was currently going on in the world. When she was outside, she could really relax and feel, ultimately, the most comfortable. In the wild, she could wear jeans and an old t-shirt and have her hair up in a ponytail. It was almost therapeutic. Once she had returned to her job on site, she was...well, thrown into a position that she hadn't been expected to have. Apparently, someone that was finding home and safe havens for muggleborns, had stopped by the camp and dropped off a little girl until it was safe. The camp, despite what people thought, was extremely safe. It was off grid and very few people actually new where they were, or cared to know. The two women that had initially volunteered were never mothers themselves. They weren't asked to become a mother figure, but that natural kindness and understand wasn't there. Now, Dominique had...numerous younger cousins. Too many, really, but she loved them all. Mona and Dominique had kind of connected on that level. It wasn't long before Dominique had stepped up and took the girl under her wing. Everyday she would set aside an allotted time to teach her things that she should be learning in school. Well, things that Dom remembered learning at her age. She taught her to speak some French, which was entertaining. Mona actually had a good accent. The deal, before Mona went running out of the office, was that she needed to finish her flashcards. That hadn't happened. When Dom turned from her desk, Mona wasn't there. Pursing her lips, she heard a knock. "Mona, you know you need to finish..." And she paused. Standing in front of her was the one person that she had not expected to see. "Oh." Her cheeks were warm again. "I would say this was a coincidence, but we're in the middle of nowhere." Dominique grinned slightly. "How can I help you?"

I have finally seen the light , And I have finally realized what you mean Xander recognized her like he'd been burned. He furrowed his brow and heard her words but didn't really interpret them yet. Coincidence? It had to be, who was she that kept popping out of nowhere in his life? Someone who undoubtedly disliked him at this point. He shook his head and composed himself. "I'm Alixander Warrington." He clarified. Knowing he did actually have a meeting besides Mona, to accompany here. He used it as a good excuse to stop by. "Researcher for the ministry." He said, seriously, straightening. He assumed this was Dominique Weasley, after all, he hadn't seen her before and she must have some sort of pull at the camp.
Slowly he put out his hand to shake hers. Normally he didn't like to give out his name. but as of now she didn't know he had an association with Mona. And better to keep it that way. He didn't know her, didn't trust her, and had a job to do, so may as well get it done before he met with the other people looking out for Mona. "I'm a few days early, I have some stops to hit on my way back to London." Then meeting her eyes, he added, "I apologize for any inconvenience." With that he showed her his bag. "Just an overnight so I can get enough research in with the new creature." He spoke simply and succinctly, but the tone of rude that she had obviously heard him use before was not in his voice.

` DOMINIQUE: It was at this moment that she realized that she looked like a bum. The only reason that she wasn't covered in dirt and had twigs in her hair, is because this was typically the time of day that she would give lessons to Mona. It appeared like that wasn't going to happen this instant, however. The last time that these two had an encounter, it wasn't necessarily pleasant. Dominique watched him, her eyes taking in his features for the first time. He was handsome. But most guys that were handsome, were assholes. So far, he hadn't proved her theory to be incorrect. When he introduced himself, she could have deadpanned. Maybe she did. He happened to be the guy that she had been writing at the Ministry to come have a look at the creature that she had discovered. She would have never pegged him as a Ministry worker. The surprises kept piling up. "I'm Dominique Weasley."
When he extended his hand, she glanced at it before shaking it firmly. "I'm the head magizoologist at the camp." She grinned once more. Slightly less forced. Hearing little feet, Dominique glanced around him, spotting Mona. "You're lucky this gentleman just stopped by," Dom smiled. "He just saved you from French flashcards." Mona giggled, looking over at him with a smile. Dominique pulled the little girl's hair up into a ponytail before she told her that she could go see Scott. "Sorry about that." She said with a small laugh, sobering. "But it's no problem, we have accommodations for you if you'd like for me to show you. Or I could have someone else show you if that'd be more comfortable." She was being polite. She was kind of tiptoeing around him after her last little outburst.

I have finally seen the light , And I have finally realized what you mean "Nice to meet you officially," he mused, somewhat ironically. The ridiculous situations he got himself into. How could such a large world be so small these days? She took his hand though, very diplomatic of her, and introduced her title. He was somewhat surprised, she was so young to have such a job, but wasn't completely shocked as most of the people at this reservation were young. Xander peeked behind him when he saw mona again and grinned at her, watching their interaction somewhat curiously before the little girl ran off again, "French Flash cards? Are you her teacher?" He asked, faking ignorance on why a little girl was so far out here and not in school.
She could have been a ballerina based on her fake politeness. Alixander shook his head, "If you have something better to do, I'm sure I can manage." He said, not wanting to overstep her forced courtesy, for all he knew there could be yet another outburst from both of them. He took the time she had to answer as a way of observing her. She was very pleasant looking. Lovely on all accounts. Fiery, he knew that already. There were a lot of elements, he could see that, which he didn't know. And based on her tense words, probably wouldn't. Not that he was entitled to, in fact, he would undoubtedly be better in the long run if he did not get to know Dominique Weasley. And allowed her to think of him as yet another ministry prick and dangerous as nearly everyone was these days.

` DOMINIQUE: "It's nice to officially meet you as well." She was being somewhat honest. As she stood here with this man, she was slowly becoming more comfortable and confident in herself. He was currently standing on her territory. Dominique was quite brilliant for her age. It wasn't something that she typically discussed (her position), but it was certainly something that she was proud of. She had worked extremely hard to get to where she was today. She remembers quite a few sleepless nights when she was still attending Hogwarts. It was nice to be awarded for hard work. Dominique happened to catch his eye when he watched her interaction with Mona. Standing up straight, she watched her run off with a grin before looking at him again. "I'm her guardian. Homeschooling. This is typically when we have class, but she deserves a little break. She's a good girl," she mused with a grin. Dom didn't know who's side he was on, she wasn't about to tell him anymore. It was too risky. Besides, he hadn't really proved that he could be trusted. For all she knew, he hated her...which was pretty entertaining.
As far as she could tell, Alixander was a wonderful actor. He was pulling out all of the stops to appear nice. He was about to get a shock, though, because she was going to be herself. It was too hard to act like something else. "I don't mind, really," she said simply. "If you want to follow me, I'll take you over there, now. You can decide when you would like me to take you out to the site." She grinned slightly, walking passed him and out into the camp. Her sun kissed skin stood out against her white tank that was tucked loosely into her jeans. Her blonde hair was pulled into a ponytail, swinging slightly as she walked- her boots kicking up a little dirt. "Over there is where the rest of the researchers stay, if you need to get a hold of them," she pointed, sneaking a glance at him. He had features that she liked in a man...his chiseled jaw, his eyes...he looked athletic. He was hard to read, though, so it was hard to look any further. Approaching a tent, she pushed aside the flap and walked in, turning to look at him. As far as the magical tents went, this one was top notch. "So, this is where you'll be staying. If you need anything, I'm just next door. If it's after 8, just come in instead of calling for me because Mona will be asleep." Dom grinned, tucking a stray fly away behind her ear.

I have finally seen the light , And I have finally realized what you mean He looked at Dominique, and realized that most of his irritation had to be because of the previous atmosphere. It was very different, and while coffee shops relaxed some it put him on edge. And he remembered their whole interaction as though he wasn't even looking at her. Like he was arguing to the air next to her. But she seemed genuine enough, whether or not she was fooling herself or not was on her. "She seems it, young to be an apprentice." He teased lightly, but was grateful that dominique didn't expose anything more about the girl. "Or a guardian." He added, but left it at that. She was young to be a lot of things, or maybe it was just her face- beautifully young.
She offered to go out to the site and Alixander shrugged, "Sooner the better." His time was rather expensive, and while he didn't mind waiting on animals, he did have to meet with scott at some point during the trip, may as well get his ministry work done while he's at it. Besides, travelling never made him tired. He followed her without saying much, taking in her words and her world. She certainly did seem to know this place well. He looked around, entering the tent and actually stumbling slightly. It was by far the nicest tent he's stayed in. It felt wrong to him. While he gave these to some people he was helping, he never wanted one for himself. Call him old-fashioned. "Okay," he said, taking off his jacket, and pulling up the sleeves of his flannel. "Ready to go." He said, leaving the bag and not looking again at the richly decorated tent. | words: xx notes; <3 |

` DOMINIQUE: The way that they had initially met, was terrible. It was under weird circumstances to begin with. They were both irritated, or at least she was. She wasn't quite sure about what had put him in such a terrible mood. He wouldn't even look at her. He was shitty, but he was talking over her head, like she wasn't there. It was hard to look past, but he was actually being decent, so she wasn't going to question it. Dom was ready to take him down if he decided to be bipolar again, however. Mama didn't raise no fool. "She would make a wonderful assistant some day." Dominique smiled, lowering her head for a moment. "She's a special little girl. I'm lucky to have her." And that was where she'd leave it. Again, she had no idea what side he stood on. If it was up to his surname, he was someone that she'd have to keep her eye on. The WArringtons were known to be Death Eaters.
When Dom had mentioned that he could choose a time to go out to the site, she wasn't expecting that he'd say right away. Maybe he was just ready to get finished and leave. "Not a problem. I'll show you around while we walk out to the guest quarters." Standard procedure. As they walked, she pointed out where things were...where researchers lived. It was essential to know. When they reached the tent, she showed him where he'd stay which was...way too nice. Some diplomats required the luxury, however. "Right. Let's go." She grinned, slightly excited to show him her discovery. Dominique remained quiet until they reached the edge of the woods. "I'm excited to show you...it's simply beautiful. A water creature, but can live on land, as well. Mostly remains near the shore..." Dom began, her eyes bright, continuing her trek. Some magizoologists never have the chance to discover their own creature. When they reached a rather large lake, Dom looked back at him and smiled before walking ahead to the shore. Crouching down, she reached her hand into the water, splashing it a little. "Wait for it..." After several more seconds, Dom watched the water ripple until a creature surfaced, walking out of the water to sit perched near her. "He's incredible, right??" She was radiant. Positively enthralled in her work...and incredibly proud.

I have finally seen the light , And I have finally realized what you mean He watched her curiously, expression exposing nothing of his thoughts. "And I'm certain she should feel the same." He said, but looked away not elaborating. He wondered if the girl even needed to be relocated. Though Alixander found himself wanting the girl in a stationary home, with a all the elements needed for a family. Perhaps that was his oldfashioned personality, or the fact that he never had these things and Mona deserved the best. And when he reached the tent he knew immediately what they thought of ministry workers. Alixander was obviously very different, but they didn't know that. Or at least, this girl didn't. Girl who looked more rugged than most of the men he worked with in his office.
But when she lead him to the water he stood, hands in his pockets- watching the spot with surprising patience. When it finally surfaced his eyes traced over every line of the creature. "fascinating." He murmured immediately, moving slightly closer, but just at researchers distance. Knowing better than to approach. He was weary but curious and smiled slightly at the the creature. "Incredible, what an interesting ecosystem." His disposition around animals changed immediately from that of people. Throwing Dominique a look, Xander asked again, "what have you called it? And what's the food chain?" There was certainly an interesting shape to it. And if it lived so close to shore that muggles had a habit of wandering around against their intellectual ability, the ministry would have to quarantine. Unless he could find a way to make it so that didn't have to happen. | words: xx notes; <3 |

` DOMINIQUE: She was like a proud mother, glow and all. These creatures were like her children and surprisingly enough, they typically took to her gentle kindness. She always told people that the animals can sense your emotions...if you're happy or afraid. That's how they knew how to react to someone. Knowing that these creatures were intelligent, but approachable, she had learned how keep them relaxed. They were beautiful. She figured that the one that always came to shore was the alpha. He looked like a lion...but with fins. Blue-green in color with rich, dark eyes. Her eyes were bright as she watched the creature, reaching out to rub under it's chin- watching it close it's eyes. "He's wonderful," she breathed softly, her eyes taking in it's appearance in detail. "You can come closer, you know. Just sit down, he's more comfortable that way...all on the same eye level." Dominique smiled at him, seemingly forgetting what had happened days earlier. "I've been calling him Aqueon," she said with a grin, sitting cross-legged. "From what I've observed, they mainly eat small fish and some underwater greenery." Was he excited?! She couldn't tell, but she didn't care. Dropping her hand, she watched as the creature moved closer, sitting beside her, looking down at the water. "They're quite intelligent. I've never seen anything like this, it was wonderful discovery." They were actually having a conversation. It was...nice.

I have finally seen the light , And I have finally realized what you mean Getting down the same height of the animal, he watched it, pulling out a small notepad and sketching it quickly before returning the book to his back pocket. Xander was someone who liked a visual. "He's like the stories of those ancient water lions." He murmured, watching the creature's relaxation with a witch and wizard so close to it. "And no signs of aggression?" He asked her, going over the list he had to for the ministry. Though it didn't look like this creature would attack unless being approached in an improper way. Unfortunately, they always had to account for the idiots in the world. He still remained at a distance, as much as he had a natural ability with animals, he wasn't someone who needed to touch them all the time.
With a sigh, "Aqueon." He repeated, considering this. "Have you found it in any other nearby bodies of water?" He watched her for a moment, thinking over how different they were here than the first time they met. He could still feel the awkwardness, it was tangible to him, but that didn't mean he knew the words to fix it. He could act professional and right now that's all he'd do. "I have paperwork in my bag for you to fill out. We need to make sure this isn't a threat of exposure." Looking back down at the animal, a small smile found its way on his lips, putting a hand out for the animal watching it move closer to him an he touched under the gin gently.

` DOMINIQUE: Dominique looked up at him with a small grin, noting that he sketched the same as she had. It was hard not to, most people didn't believe that she had discovered such a creature. He had sat beside her, watching aqueon intently. "That's what I thought, too." She mused, dropping her hand into her lap. "They're proud creatures. They want to be respected. He growled at me when I initially approached him. That was the only sign." Not quite dangerous. Relocation was the last thing that she wanted him to do, even though it wasn't really up to him as a whole. She hoped that a charm would be sufficient enough to keep the creatures in their natural habitat. "Did you just sigh at my name for him?" Dom cracked a smile, tilting her head to the side to look at him. Laughing softly, she leaned back on her hands, looking out on the water- the sun hitting her features. "I haven't been able to venture out further, yet. I've been tying up my end of the paperwork before you got here." Dominique turned to watch him quietly, a small grin forming as she saw his interaction with aqueon. She felt tension, still, more so on his end...or at least, she thought. Bringing her knees to her chest she murmured, "I'm sorry about the other day...I'm not that person." Meaning, she wasn't a bitch...or someone that would typically confront a stranger. Now, her sister on the other hand...she wouldn't be held accountable for Victoire. Clearing her throat softly, she stood, dusting her jeans off. "We can head back to camp and get started. I know that you're on a time schedule." Her voice remained soft, tucking a strand of loose hair behind her hair.

I have finally seen the light , And I have finally realized what you mean She was well read, and he wasn't surprised, it would take a lot of knowledge and natural will to run a camp like this. "Well, I'm sure he's got a lot to protect." Alixander affirmed shortly, recognizing that the creature growled at her upon first meeting. It made sense. After all, Xander growled more often than not upon meeting a new person too. He smirked slightly at the comparison, ridiculous as it was. She was growled at the first time, as well. Not that he'd make sense of this aloud. She had enough insanity when it came to him than she was probably prepared for. The laugh that came from her lips, confused him. he hadn't meant to make her laugh, but he couldn't help but crack a smile. "It sounds like a hand creme." He added, slightly- running his hand over the ground, picking up the dirt absently, but glancing at her sideways.
Her apology, however, was enough for Alixander to want to leave entirely. He hated this sort of, holding hands thing she was trying to do. Roughly, he ran a hand over his head and through his short hair. "Lets just forget it." He said, probably rougher than he meant to. But he felt ridiculously uncomfortable at that moment and just wanted to brush it off. Even if he needed to apologize or not. But when she stood up, he followed, hands shoving into his front pockets, glad for the change of scenery. " We'll stop by my tent and I'll get the papers to you. Do you mind if I meet the other people at the camp as well? Just for records sake." He said, though, was planning on meeting with Scott for matters entirely separate from the ministry. | words: xx notes; <3 |
