"Hurry up! Don't miss the train! Five minutes until we take off!"
Students were kissing their parents one last time before they hopped on the now-blackened Hogwarts Express, with most of the parents crying. The parents probably had First Years boarding the train for the first time, and that's why they were crying. If it meant anything, most of them would be safe. All of the Purebloods would be fine. Halfbloods would be in for a world of hell. But a lot of them wouldn't know what was going on during the ride. Unless, of course, something happened while the train was in motion.
Gracelynn had already boarded the train, well before the five-minute departure warning, and had comfortably taken a seat in an empty compartment towards the front. She had her legs straightened out so that her feet were on the other seat, cross-legged at the ankles. A fiction novel was in her hands, and to herself, she read the words on the pages. She had been reading the book at various points in time over the summer, and she was halfway done with it by the time she had gotten herself situated in the compartment.
As she was in the middle of the eleventh chapter, she could hear some parents still crying as their children climbed aboard the train. The students ran down the aisles of the car she was sitting in, hoping to find an empty compartment of their own to claim. As long as they don't come bugging a Sixth Year, Grace thought to herself, multi-tasking by flipping to the next page. Someone would need to give me a tranquilizer in order for me to calm down if I had to put up with screaming First Years.
All the while, between the kids screaming as they were finding seats and the book, Grace heard the conductor make one final announcement. "Last call for the Hogwarts Express! Non-stop to Hogsmeade Station and Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!"
