` GRAHAM HIGGS : In the past three years, Graham had been quite cowardice in contrast to his school robes showed. his school robes showed that he was a brave gryffindor, something out of the ordinary for his family. his older sister had set the model first by being sorted into gryffindor before him. his father wasn't upset with either of them as he wasn't like most slytherins during his school years. terrence was one of the few decent slytherins according to his former peers that didn't cheat at quidditch and kept to himself. at least that was how he had accepted being sorted into gryffindor instead of slytherin like the rest of his family. in the past three years, he had found a different reason for why he was a gryffindor and not like his older siblings or father. graham had found out that he was a muggleborn from his parents, who only told him for his safety after the death eaters banned muggleborns from the school. rather than hand over their adopted son, they have kept him safe for the past three years, making sure that no one has found out except the three of them. they had told him to not even tell his friends for the sake of ensuring none of them betrayed him to the death eaters.
since finding out his status, he had resorted to alcohol. a fourteen year old was not typically someone to be found drinking alcohol, but it wasn't hard to get from the older students. older students, who hid it from the death eaters and snuck into the room of requirement when they could. since he couldn't tell tessa what was going on with him, he started to ignore her. he didn't want to lie to her or get her dragged into something that would get her hurt. that meant losing his best friend which had only made him drink more. it was only last year that he had started to clean up his act. during that year, he had kissed tessa on the lips when she was drunk. for him, he wasn't drunk at all. in contrast, he was helping take care of her, so no one could take advantage of her being drunk. after he had kissed her, he had left her with a close friend of his that wasn't drunk before he left the party. one year later, he was back on the train heading to hogwarts. in the span of that year, the two hadn't talked to each other.

i can hold my breath , i can fake a laugh, if that's what you want She got on the train for the school year, her hair was pinned gently to her head as she pushed through the multiple carriages that were full. Even her friends' carriages were too full so she just pressed through. everyone was on edge this year, and Tessa knew why. Her friends that she cared so much about were still gone simply because of their blood status. She felt sick just thinking about it. The people who were most important to her were now gone, and while some remained the dynamic was gone. Fear drove people together but also apart. She though of graham, who was her best friend, and just disappeared from her life, despite her best efforts to get him back.
And while she heard nothing for years she thought maybe he grew out of her, but she wasn't exactly an immature person either. Tess sighed, pressing herself against a side of the hall to allow other people to pass her by. She was pressed against one of the doors, and when the train hit a bump, everything seemed to jolt and the door popped open just enough for her to be thrown into the compartment behind her. A shriek that accompanied her thud against the floor was comparable enough to that of a mouse. "oof!" She sat up slowly, rubbing her head, the train seemed to be fine again and maybe the whole stopping was just a dream, but why did she fall? | words;; xxx notes; <3 |

` GRAHAM HIGGS : ever since kissing tessa that night, he had thought about going to her. telling her the truth about him and getting his friend back though he was afraid. afraid that she would not accept him as her friend again since he had done nothing, but ignore her for three years. he should have just told her from the start that he was adopted and a muggleborn, someone not meant to be in hogwarts. there were two reasons that he didn't tell her in the first place. one was that he didn't want to put the burden on her. being friends with a muggleborn was bad news since death eaters would torture anyone for information on them. she had lost plenty of friends because they had been muggleborn, he didn't want her to think she would lose another. it was stupid since she had practically lost him with him not communicating with her, but it was a way to keep her safe. his parents had warned him so much about keeping the truth from even his closest friends because they knew the death eaters would torture, use potions, or kill anyone. instead of staying by her side through the three years, graham had turned to alcohol. alcohol was the only thing that had made him happy for two years. it wasn't until after he kissed her that he wanted to change, no longer wasting away his life, his time at hogwarts. since then, he had stopped drinking and gotten his act together minus talking to tessa. like many students, he had already put on his gryffindor robes, sitting in a compartment by himself. he hadn't had a compartment with someone since he stopped talking to tessa. he had other friends, of course, but he preferred being alone or with her. the train jolted and he ended up being thrown back in his seat since his back had not been touching the seat. another person had been thrown into the compartment due to the door opening on its own. it was tessa, who had landed on his one foot when she fell into the compartment. graham's eyes averted from her to looking out the window. he had no idea what to say to her after three years, after that kiss.`ooc notes; <3

i can hold my breath , i can fake a laugh, if that's what you want Sitting up Tessa touched her head where it fell on something hard. "what." She breathed, looking around, and seeing his face. "Graham?" She asked, there he was sitting there nonchalant as ever. He didn't even look at her. Looking down she pressed herself up from the floor. Three years of nothing, and he couldn't even look at her. She got a sudden rush of stubbornness and plopped down on the opposite bench, looking at the door. It was not the type of corridor she wanted to walk down on her own, and while she might be welcome in the prefects carriage, she didn't feel like having another spill into someone else's compartment that haunted her past.
So, if she wasn't going to be able feel comfortable, she was damn sure she'll make him feel the same. She crossed her arms tightly over her chest and didn't look at him back. Passive agressiveness was always the answer. She let her mind wander, back to a kiss that she swore either happened in her own dream or that was done so drunkenly that meant nothing. Tess absently touched her fingertips to her lips, remembering back to how it felt. Letting out a breath, Tessa looked over at him. "Silence? Really? Graham... come on." She pressed, her lips pursing together. She hated this.

` GRAHAM HIGGS : it had been a long time since he heard her say his name. the two had gone so long without talking because of him. it was even more incredibly stupid of him to kiss her at the party that the two had gone to. she had been drunk and probably thought he had been drunk too, the only way it would have happened. before she had looked up at him, he had looked at her since she had fallen onto his foot. before she had looked up, he had looked out the window. the compartment had just became awkward because of the two being together in the same space alone, in three years and sober. he sighed when he noticed her plop down across from him, on the other seat. it wasn't until she spoke again that he looked at her. he asked, "what do you want me to say?" the first words to one another. her first word to him was his name. his first words to her were asking what he could say to her. between the kiss and the fact that they hadn't talked in so long, the two had a lot to talk about. a lot that it was hard to choose what to talk about first. he was sure that he wasn't the only one that thought about the kiss anytime they saw each other in the hall or in class.`ooc notes; <3

i can hold my breath , i can fake a laugh, if that's what you want She scoffed, "unbelievable." Running a hand over her hair, she dug into her bag for something to do. Fucking knitting needles besides sitting here and trying to not think about someone who's so constantly on her mind. She put a hand to her forehead, tossing her bag to the ground. Honestly, she was getting flustered. She was so good at reading emotions, particularly other peoples, but never his. She could never peg what he meant, and maybe once she'd been able to, when they were always together. Best friends forever and however long after. Letting out a breath, she continued. "Say anything! You disappeared on me, you realize. I've been worried. and then assumed I had to write you off?" She furrowed her brows at him. "What was so bad that I can't help? Or couldn't at least try?" She was self sacrificing to a fault. Tessa knew that if Graham were in trouble, she'd be the first one to leap infront of the firing squad. Even now, that he was being a self-centered prick and not including her in things, she would still want to help. Until the end she'd help her friends. And here he was pushing her away without her consent. She heard footsteps walk past the door and shut up, looking at it. Call it habit, now that they lived in a warzone. She lowered her eyes. "I'm still here for you. Whether you want me to or not. I dont' even know what I did, but I'm sorry for whatever it may be." She breathed.

` GRAHAM HIGGS : graham had asked what she wanted him to say to her. she had thrown her bag to the ground after she had scoffed, not believing what he had asked her. after all these years that had passed, all he had to ask her was what she wanted him to say. the two had been such close friends that they hadn't fought much in the past. it was a new experience for him since a fight between the two was rare. he didn't respond to her, looking out the window yet again. she continued, asking for him to say anything. he had to admit, he hadn't thought the two would talk again. graham had done well enough to avoid talking to her for so long that he never pictured in his mind, what they would say to one another when they did start talking again. she kept asking him what it was, insisting that he would be able to tell her. graham couldn't take it anymore, he took his eyes off the window and looked back at her. he folded his arms as if trying to protect himself from all the words that she had said to him. graham said in a low voice, "i was trying to protect you for the past three years. that is why i stopped talking to you." he said, "i found out three years ago that i am adopted and a muggleborn." the last part was almost a whisper, so no one could hear him even if they had their ear up against the compartment. graham knew that if she knew about him, she would have jumped in front of him to save him. he wasn't dumb and that was why he had to keep it from her. if something happened to her because of him, he probably wouldn't have forgiven himself.`ooc notes; <3
